Proxies<\/strong> are one of the very useful computer networking techniques, used by many computers these days, especially for internet connection networking. A proxy server<\/strong> is basically and application program which is commonly known as a server<\/strong>\u00a0used to service the client’s requests so as to forward it to other available servers.<\/p>\n

A proxy server<\/strong> receives a request for an Internet service<\/strong> (such as a Web page request) from a user. If it passes filtering requirements, the proxy server, assuming it is also a cache server, looks in its local cache<\/strong> of previously downloaded Web pages. If it finds the page, it returns it to the user without needing to forward the request to the Internet.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"Cache<\/p>\n

If the page is not in the cache, the proxy server,<\/strong> acting as a client on behalf of the user, uses one of its own IP addresses to request the page from the server out on the Internet. When the page is returned, the proxy server relates it to the original request and forwards<\/strong> it to the user. To the user, the proxy server is invisible; all Internet requests and returned responses appear to be directly with the addressed Internet server.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"Purpose<\/p>\n

The main purpose of the proxies<\/strong> <\/a><\/em>is to connect to the available server so as to provide the resources, on the behalf of the client. The proxy servers<\/strong> also have the option of altering the request of the client or even<\/strong> the response of the server approached. Sometimes the proxy server can also process the request without even contacting the sources server. The proxy server<\/strong> which can pass all requests and reply unmodified<\/strong> is also known as the gateway<\/strong> or sometimes the tunneling proxy.<\/p>\n

\"Functions<\/p>\n

The functions of the proxy<\/strong>, firewall, and caching can be in separate server programs or combined in a single package. Different server programs can be on different computers. For example, a proxy server<\/strong> may in the same machine with a firewall server or it may be on a separate server and forward requests through the firewall.<\/strong> Proxiesforent<\/strong> <\/em><\/a>provides proxy servers that can be used to place the address in the local computer of the user which connects the user and the destinations server<\/strong> or the internet.<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
