An IP address is a number on the Internet that identifies a computer or other device. It is equivalent to a mailing address that specifies where postal mail originates and where it should be sent. IP addresses individually mark the source and destination of the Internet Protocol data that is transmitted.

Working of IP address

IP is meant to run on a dynamic network. This implies that the IP must run without a central directory or monitor and cannot rely on existing unique links or nodes. IP is a connectionless protocol that is datagram-oriented., so each packet must include the source IP address, destination IP address, and other data in the header to be successfully transmitted.

Combined, these variables make IP an inefficient protocol for the transmission of the best effort. The correction of errors is done instead of upper-level protocols. TCP, which is a connection-oriented protocol, and UDP, which is a connectionless protocol, include such protocols.

1.Private IP address 

The address of your computer connecting to the home or business network is a private IP address. If you are connecting to one ISP (Internet Service Provider) with a few different devices, then all of your devices will have a special private IP address. It is not possible to reach this IP address from computers outside your home or business network. 

This offers a means for internal IP addresses to be used by private networks without competing with other networks.

IoT computers have a private IP address assigned to each of them, along with normal PCs, notebooks, tablets, and phones. This private IP is used by the router to identify which system needs to be serviced. This refers to most Bluetooth laptops as well.

2.Public IP address

The entire local network (LAN) is connected to the Internet from one public IP address for homes and small businesses. Big corporations may have multiple IPs that are public IP addresses. All your actions on the internet are connected to your public IP. Using the public IP address, ISPs may decide who visits which places and uses the internet. Your ISP supplies the public IP address to the router (i.e. Internet Service Provider). This is the address used to identify your network and the devices connected to it from all the devices outside the network. 

3.Static IP Addresses

IP addresses that you manually configure and fix to your device’s network are considered static IP addresses. IP static addresses are impossible to change automatically.

A static IP address is essentially a non-modifying address. When a static IP address is allocated to your device, the number usually remains the same until the device is decommissioned or the architecture of your network changes. Internet Service Providers grant default IP addresses (ISPs). Depending on the terms of your service agreement, your ISP can or may not assign you a static IP address. A little further, we explain your choices, but now presume that a static IP address adds to the expense of your ISP deal.

IPv4 or IPv6 may be a static IP address; the main quality is static in this situation. Some day, there could be a special static IPv6 address for any piece of networked equipment we have. We are still not there. For now, for permanent addresses, we typically use static IPv4 addresses.

4.Dynamic IP Address

IPv4 stands for version 4 internet protocol. This is the one you can see see the most. These addresses are 32-bit long and are broken into four parts, each containing 8 bits, known as bytes. Since 1981, this protocol has been around and has not had many improvements since then. We are still running out of them to use, despite having 4,294,967,296 possible IP addresses.

IPv6 

There is a worldwide lack of IPv4 addresses as the internet grows rapidly. The Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) has created IPv6, the most current iteration of the Internet Protocol, to replace IPv4 to combat this. It uses a 128-bit addressing scheme, As certain IPs are intended for special use the real number is a little smaller.

1.Unicast IP Addresses

A broadcast address is an IP address that is used to target all systems instead of single hosts on a given subnet network. In other words, the broadcast address enables information to be transmitted to all devices on a given subnet rather than a single computer.
